Sticky Issues in Turbulent Transport

چکیده

We investigate the role of partial stickiness among particles or with a surface for turbulent transport. For former case, we re-derive known results case compressible Kraichnan model by using method based on bi-orthogonality expansion propagator in terms left and right eigenvectors. In particular, show that enforcing constraints orthogonality normalization yields were previously obtained rigorous, yet possibly less intuitive method. latter introduce general transport within atmospheric boundary layer. As suggested experimental observations tracers, both drift diffusivity scale height to ground. The strength is parameterized velocity V. use V range $$-1<V<0$$ $$0<V<1$$ there one-parameter family conditions are priori admissible. Outside range, single condition physical terms, parametrized degree which stick

energy and environmental issues in transport sector

nowadays, transportation sector consumes about 27 percent of the whole energy in iran. therefore, after domestic and business sectors which consume about 40 percent of the whole energy, transportation is placed in the second rank. however, the financial value of transportation is of the highest importance. moreover, having 55percent of gasoline product consumption transportation has been also r...

Memory Effects in Turbulent Transport

In mean-field theory of magnetic fields or passive scalars, for example, turbulent transport is usually assumed to be proportional to the corresponding mean fields and their spatial derivatives. However, this is an approximation that is valid only if the mean fields vary slowly in time. Examples are presented where turbulent transport possesses memory, i.e. it depends crucially on the past hist...

Turbulent transport in hydromagnetic flows

The predictive power of mean-field theory is emphasized by comparing theory with simulations under controlled conditions. The recently developed test-field method is used to extract turbulent transport coefficients both in the kinematic and the nonlinear or quasi-kinematic cases. A striking example of the quasi-kinematic method is provided by magnetic buoyancy-driven flows that produce an α eff...

Anisotropy in Turbulent Flows and in Turbulent Transport

The problem of anisotropy and its effects on the statistical theory of high Reynoldsnumber (Re) turbulence (and turbulent transport) is intimately related and intermingled with the problem of the universality of the (anomalous) scaling exponents of structure functions. Both problems had seen tremendous progress in the last five years. In this review we present a detailed description of the new ...

Bounds for Turbulent Transport

We would like to pursue a mathematical approach to turbulence that is able to predict bulk average quantities of experimental and practical significance. Among such bulk average quantities, the Nusselt number N , the enhanced bulk average heat transfer due to convection, is perhaps the simplest physical objective of rigorous mathematical study of turbulence. The question we wish to address here...
